چکیده

A series of Navier-Stokes simulations of a complete Boeing 777-200 aircraft con gured for landing is obtained using a structured overset grid process and the OVERFLOW CFD code. At approach conditions, the computed forces for the 777 computation are within 1.5% of experimental data for lift, and within 4% for drag. The computed lift is lower than the experiment at maximum-lift conditions, but shows closer agreement at post-stall conditions. The e ect of sealing a spanwise gap between leading edge elements, and adding a chine onto the nacelle is computed at a high angle of attack. These additions make a signi cant difference in the ow over the wing near these elements. Detailed comparisons between computed and experimental surface pressures are shown. Good agreement is demonstrated at lower angles of attack, including a prediction of separated ow on the outboard ap.

A Model for Runway Landing Flow and Capacity with Risk and Cost Benefit Factors

As the demand for the civil aviation has been growing for decades and the system becoming increasingly complex, the use of systems engineering and operations research tools have shown to be of further use in managing this system. In this study, we apply such tools in managing landing operations on runways (as the bottleneck and highly valuable resources of air transportation networks) to handle...

Boeing 777 Flight Control System

INTRODUCTION Electronic controls systems have been used in commercial aviation for more than 40 years. With the introduction of the Concorde, the use of electronic systems (with mechanical backups) to manipulate the hydraulic controls used to fly by wire started the revolution on flight control. Digital systems were first used in the Airbus 310 where digital computers controlled flight control ...

Mathematical Model and Vibration Analysis of Aircraft with Active Landing Gear System using Linear Quadratic Regulator Technique

This paper deals with the study and comparison of passive and active landing gear system of  the aircraft and dynamic responses due to runway irregularities while the aircraft is taxying. The dynamic load and vibration caused by the unevenness of runway will result in airframe fatigue, discomfort of passengers and the reduction of the pilot’s ability to control the aircraft. One of the objectiv...

Automatic Landing Guidance Systems and Design of an Optimal Landing Control System

Guidance and control of aircraft in the landing phase imposes extra pilot work loads, hence application of automatic landing control systems is of great importance. In this study automatic landing control systems are introduced and an optimal landing control system is designed. The control system performance criteria are based on minimum control effort. The designed system is simulated for a tr...
